President and Chief Executive Officer
Carmine founded Univeris in 1991. Previously named CTA Systemsource, the company started as an innovative mutual fund dealer system and has since grown to become a trusted leader in enterprise-level wealth management technology in Canada. Carmine’s strong commitment to innovation, corporate integrity, and delivering real value to clients has shaped Univeris into what it is today—a unique business and technology model with a distinct reputation for technology excellence, product reliability, and a strong focus on client service.
Carmine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Graeme Shiomi
Chief Technology Officer
As CTO, Graeme oversees software development and engineering practices at Univeris. In addition to development and quality assurance, he is responsible for Univeris Architecture, DevOps, and Release Management practices. Graeme has an impressive technology background that includes more than 20 years of experience in software application development and systems integration. Prior to joining Univeris, he successfully led digital and technology expansion efforts within the Canada Post Group of Companies.
Graeme is a graduate of McMaster University’s Engineering and Management program.
Rob Young
Chief Financial Officer
Rob joined Univeris in July 2020 and leads all aspects of finance and administration. Rob has worked with several software and technology companies in the Toronto area for the past 20 years. He has extensive experience growing and scaling companies and leading them to successful exits. SAP and CA Technologies are just two of the large public corporations which Rob has been involved with and helped grow.
Rob is a Chartered Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto.
Ayal Amir
Vice President, Services and Customer Success
Ayal joined Univeris in 2020 and is responsible for fostering client relationships, account management, client success, and support. Ayal leads a team that partners with clients to thoroughly understand their business processes and problems and to recommend a strategic roadmap for their wealth management solutions. Before joining Univeris, Ayal served as Director of Professional Services, Sales, and Customer Success at CA Technologies and as Director of Solution Delivery at Netcracker.
Ayal holds a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School.
Jaime Bolivar
Vice President, Sales, Europe and Latin America
Jaime is an accomplished international executive with a nearly three-decade career in the asset- and wealth-management industries. In 1999 he co-founded TechRules (acquired by Univeris) and helped to solidify its global position as a leader in financial advisory applications. At TechRules, Jaime led the development of award-winning front-office technology and oversaw platform integrations and international business development. Prior to that, Jaime spent nine years as Head of Product Development at Expert Timing Systems where he was responsible for developing quantitative asset-allocation methodologies to manage investment portfolios.
Jaime holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering degree from Polytechnic University of Madrid and completed the General Management Program for executives at the IESE Business School, University of Navarra.
Raul Lacaci
Vice President, Research and Development
Raul joined Univeris’ executive team in 2022 after the acquisition of TechRules. He brings more than two decades of leadership and hands-on experience in platform technology, automation, and digital client experiences. As VP of R&D, Raul spearheads Univeris’ product-growth initiatives, ensuring market fit and benefits to clients. A prescient thinker, Raul co-founded TechRules in 1999, where he focused on developing game-changing financial solutions for investment professionals. He led the firm’s R&D activities, which were instrumental in growing the brand in Europe and abroad.
Raul received a Bachelor of Mining Engineering Technology degree from Polytechnic University of Madrid and completed the Directive Development Program for executives at the IESE Business School, University of Navarra.
Urbino Luna
Vice President, Corporate Operations
Urbino is responsible for managing Univeris’ corporate operations globally. He brings more than 20 years of corporate leadership experience and is a trusted advisor to executive leaders on areas related to structural cost transformation and technology enablement. Prior to joining Univeris, Urbino specialized in driving large-scale digital transformation and M&A practices across numerous banking divisions in eight countries. Passionate about operational excellence, Urbino has a proven track record of helping multinational clients with transformational change and delivering measurable results.
Urbino holds a Bachelor of Technology Engineering degree from Anahuac University in Mexico and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at Western University.
David Sypher
Vice President, Product Management
With deep experience on both the client and vendor side, David is a key opinion leader on product transformation. He brings more than three decades of financial services expertise spanning product development, technology investments, and investor analytics. Prior to joining Univeris, David was at Trading Central Canada where he developed product strategy and successfully launched seven new products. Before that, David held a variety of product leadership roles at TD. During his tenure, he was responsible for TD Wealth Management’s client-facing (internal and external) applications, providing an ecosystem of advisor- and client-driven products that drove highly rated user experiences. He also launched TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage’s first online trading website and developed the business strategy behind online trading.
David holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from McMaster University and obtained a product training certificate from Pragmatic Institute.
